1.0 Introduction
Welcome to the world of e-learning! As a participant and member of the Online Consortium
Hosting Service (OCHS) managed by Open School BC, your district is part of a province-wide
network offering BC students access to learning opportunities online.
OCHS provides member organizations with access to a centrally hosted version of WebCT,
an e-learning platform environment. This environment comes equipped with instructional
tools, which allows you and teachers in your district to create and/or modify online
courses customized to meet the specific learning needs of your students. In addition,
with the help of Open School BC's course administration system -- the Online Administrative
Tools, you are able to create and manage your school or district's user accounts, update
student and class records, and view reports.
This guide will provide you with what you need to know as the key contact person or Online Administrator for the OCHS in
your district. It provides an overview of OCHS's services, an outline of your role as the Online Administrator, details on
how to use the Online Administrative Tools system, suggestions on how you can help teachers
prepare for their online courses, and information on where you can get further support and training.
If you have feedback or further questions about our service, please contact
Open School BC's Customer Service team. We would be pleased to hear how we can help.
