2.0 Getting Started
As the Online Administrator, there are a number of activities you will undertake in order to set up your
district's online course offerings, get your teachers ready, and your students online. As an advanced organizer,
the following list outlines the key activities you will need to perform. Each topic will be discussed
in this guide to assist you in getting organized and getting started!
Technical setup
Whether you have the help of a technical staff person or are working independently, you must ensure that
there is a connection to the Internet and that the appropriate hardware and software (web browsers) are in
place for accessing the online courses.
Learning the Online Administrative Tools system
You must become familiar with the Online Administrative Tools system to setup your district's online classes and create user accounts.
Setting up classes and creating user accounts
You will create teacher and student ID's and Passwords. You will then assign teachers and students to classes
and designate each user's role or account access privileges.
Orientation activities
You will assist teachers with their orientation to the online environment and courses and be familiar with
the help resources available for them relating to course content, online navigation, and interactive features.
