3.2 WebCT Training
OCHS has numerous training courses available through the Online Admin Tools. These include simple WebCT
orientations to full Teacher and Designer training courses that provide you with a chance to practice your skills.
Most of these course are Previews and do not need to be requested. Simply enroll the user using the Manage WebCT User
or Manage Course screen. The following courses are available:
WebCT Orientation
- Student Orientation – This is a quick orientation for students to get them used to using WebCT.
This course is Preview only and cannot be requested.
- Teacher and Designer Orientation – This course provides a short overview of the
tools available to Teachers and Designers in WebCT. Meant to be a quick overview. This course is Preview only and
cannot be requested.
WebCT Getting Started
- Designer Teacher Training – This course is a more detailed training course and takes
you though some basic tasks in WebCT. This course is available for request and is meant to have a user enrolled as
an Instructor/Designer.
WebCT Training
- Designer Training – In this workshop, you are introduced to the design skills
necessary to create effective, engaging online courses in WebCT. Through interactive tutorials, structured activities,
examples, and discussions, you gain experience with key design tools. A variety of tools are used to build and
organize your practice course. This is a Preview only course and is meant to be used with a Practice course.
- Teacher Training 1 – In this workshop, you'll be introduced to the technical and
pedagogical skills necessary to be a successful, effective online instructor in WebCT. Through interactive tutorials,
hands-on activities, examples, and discussions, you'll learn how to keep students informed, promote a lively online
learning community, work with the Grade Book, control the release of content, and effectively manage your course
throughout the semester. This is a Preview only course and is meant to be used with a Practice course.
- Teacher Training 2 – Through hands-on activities, applied exercises, and group projects, workshop
participants will learn to create and manage a variety of assessments and assignments that are appropriate for their
course. This is a Preview only course and is meant to be used with a Practice course.
- Practice Course – Used in conjunction with the above three training courses. Users
will be enrolled as Instructor/Designers.
