High Speed Internet Connection
Our online courses require a high speed internet connection (256 kbps or better e.g. Shaw or Telus Lite).
Flash 10 Player
Some courses require a computer with a Flash 10 Player (free to download from Adobe's website http://www.adobe.com).

Display Properties
- A Minimum Screen Resolution is 1024 x 768
Note: It is recommended you use a higher resolution to maximize viewing area for course content. - Color Quality should be set to medium 16 bit as a minimum.
Browser Checker
Before logging in for the first time, you must perform a browser check to see if your browser is properly configured to use WebCT. The 'Browser Checker' button is located at the top right of the login screen.

The Browser Checker ensures the settings for your browser are set to function correctly when using WebCT. The following items are checked automatically with the Browser Checker:
- Browser Check
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8.0.3 and up
- Firefox 2.0, 3.0, 3.5
- Cookies Check WebCT uses a cookie to keep track of your current session. You must have cookies enabled so we can maintain your current state as you navigate through the application.
- Javascript Check Javascript needs to be enabled in your browser preferences. Almost every part of WebCT relies on Javascript for the ability to generate interactive web pages. You must have Javascript enabled to do anything in WebCT.
- Pop-up Blocker Check Pop-up blocker will need to be turned off in your browser preferences. WebCT sometimes uses small browser windows to deliver requested content.
- Java Check Java is the code base for WebCT. You must have Java installed on your system.
These browsers have been tested extensively and have been validated for use with WebCT. Open School’s web site for WebCT also has a ‘Browser Checker’ in the upper right hand corner of the web page (this is on the login web page).
